# Before You Sign an SEO Contract: A Checklist

Updated 2026-10-15 · SEO Agencies Singapore

Short answer: Check the term and the notice to cancel, the monthly price on that term, exactly what work is done each month, who owns the content and accounts, what access the agency gets (read-only at first), what the report shows, how links are built, that nothing is guaranteed, and what you keep if you leave.

## The checklist

- The term, and the notice to cancel. Month to month, 6 or 12 months. How much notice to stop.

- The price on that term. One Singapore agency publishes its own entry plan at S$600 a month on 12 months, S$686 on 6, S$771 quarterly and S$857 month to month (Digital Marketing Agency). Compare quotes on the same term.

- The work, month by month. Pages written, pages fixed, profile updates. Not “ongoing optimisation”.

- The searches. Which searches the work targets, named in the contract.

- Ownership. You own the content written for your site, and your Google Business Profile, Search Console and any ads accounts stay in your business’s name.

- Access. Google advises giving only read access to Search Console at audit stage, not write access (Google).

- Changes explained. Google says an SEO with access to your site should be willing to explain all the changes they make. Put that in writing.

- Links. How they are built. Guides that price individual links quote S$150 to S$1,500 a link (Digital Marketing Agency), so a cheap package promising dozens deserves questions. Google says you should never have to link to your SEO.

- No guarantee. Google says no one can guarantee a #1 ranking. A contract that promises one is promising something outside anyone’s control.

- Leaving. What you keep: the pages, the content, the accounts, the reports.

## What a monthly report should show

- Your position for the named searches, map pack and organic

- What was changed that month

- Calls, enquiries or bookings from search, where they can be measured

A report of “impressions” alone tells you that people saw you, not that anyone called.

## The cost bands, for reference

Published guides put basic agency packages at S$400 to S$700 a month ([OOM](https://www.oom.com.sg/seo-pricing-in-singapore-expectations-and-reality/)) and most SMEs at S$1,500 to S$3,000 ([Roots Digital](https://www.rootsdigital.com.sg/seo-pricing-in-singapore/)).

## More questions

Are 12-month SEO contracts normal in Singapore? +
Common, and usually cheaper per month. One agency publishes its entry plan at S$600 a month on 12 months against S$857 month to month. Check the cancellation terms before choosing the longer one. Should the agency have admin access to my website? +
Only when they need to make changes, and Google says an SEO with access to your server should be willing to explain every change. For an audit, read-only Search Console access is enough. [Get proposalsSEO61 SEO and marketing agencies listed](/service/seo/)
